Following completion of Herzog & de Meuron’s Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg in early 2017, one of the year’s most highly anticipated hotels, THE FONTENAY, designed by local archi- tect Jan Störmer, recently opened to bring another architectural highlight to the Hanseatic city. THE FONTENAY has been years in the making and a focal point is its 27-meter high atrium with a subtle light installation as its centrepiece. The striking architectural concept continues in the 130 rooms (which include 17 suites): high ceilings, private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the space with light and bring nature inside. Rooms are, of course, fitted with all the latest technology. This new member of the Leading Hotels of the World has one all-day restaurant showcasing regional dishes and a gourmet restaurant and a bar on the top floor, where relaxed mixology and exceptional city views are a sumptuous blend. The exclusive 1,000 square meter rooftop spa with its 20-meter indoor/outdoor pool and spectacular pano- ramic views brings together every aspect of beauty, well-being and relaxation.
