Il Pellicano, Porto Ercole

Set on Italy’s lush, unspoiled Monte Argentario peninsula, Il Pellicano is the embodiment of La Dolce Vita. A playground for the international jet set since the 1960s, it is the place to hide out and relax on the Tuscan coast. Il Pellicano celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2015 and, eight years later and despite the crazy social media times we now live in, it has lost none of its splendour during all those years.
In 1979 Roberto Scio, a frequent visitor and close friend, purchased this magical property and its adjacent cottages from Patricia and Michael Graham, who had founded Il Pellicano in 1965. Over the years, Il Pellicano’s glamorous atmosphere has attracted prestigious regulars, from Hollywood stars to the cream of the European elite including Jackie Kennedy, Gianni Agnelli, Charlie Chaplin (who owned one of the cottages), the Casiraghi and Missoni families and many others. In 2006 Roberto Scio’s daughter Marie Louise became the hotel’s new creative director and she was responsible for masterminding a major renovation. It is also the place where my wife and I spent our honeymoon and have celebrated several birthdays. You can enjoy excellent food in a ravishing, unique setting and perfectly relaxed atmosphere. Under leadership of Marie Louise and her impeccable staff, I am sure that Il Pellicano will be on the A-list for many years to come.
