Portrait Milano

Last winter, the Ferragamo family opened their most ambitious project yet: Portrait Milano. It is part of their hotel group, The Lungarno Collection, and a member hotel of Leading Hotels of the World. An ancient former seminary, recognised as one of the oldest examples of Lombard Baroque architecture, has been transformed into a modern hub for hospitality, entertainment and culture. This new five-star gem is tucked away on the Piazza del Quadrilatero. At 32,000 square feet, it is the largest public square in the fashion district and forms a new promenade linking the majestic Corso Venezia and the other streets in the city’s high-end shopping mecca, the Quadrilatero della Moda, which rivals Bond Street and Fifth Avenue. Architect Michele Bönan has created 73 romantic suites, family suites and spacious guestrooms with meticulous attention to detail, sumptuous materials offering classic Italian design and a perfect interplay between texture and colour palette. You can pass away hours in the beautiful library and lounge, adjacent to the unique, chic reception, perusing the weighty selection of tomes on Art and Design while the youthful staff deliver a warm and genuine service. And, of course, there is also the culinary programme which centres around the 10_11 restaurant, overlooking the hotel’s beautiful gardens. We loved our dinner, which included an unrivalled vitello tonnato, Beef Wellington and fried cod and crispy fried potatoes. I can’t wait to return when the Longevity Suite, the most advanced European Biohacking & Antiage City Clinic, and pool open this autumn.
