The Goldstein Residence
Photography by Mart Engelen
He commutes between his base in Los Angeles and international fashion shows in Milan, Paris and New York where he has a front row seat for the new collections. Thanks to his flamboyant appearance in brightly-coloured snakeskin jackets, flashy cowboy boots and exotic reptile-skin hats, James Goldstein is often photographed more than the models on the catwalk. In the summer he parades with high-heeled beauties through the Saint Tropez night-life while his Instagram account and the website for his own brand of clothing run full speed. Beyond this glamorous world, back in his own country he can be sure that an army of photographers will follow him as he pursues his great passion: National Basketball Association games. A prominent fan, famous for his long grey hair, Goldstein—sometimes known as James and sometimes as Jimmy—watches more than a hundred games a year. But his greatest passion surpasses his interest in fashion and basketball. His life’s work is nestled in the hills above Beverly Hills where he lives in one of the miraculous designs of the legendary architect John Lautner.
