No city is more suited to hosting a major international art show than Venice. Millions of people come to experience its many artistic jewels located in just as many architectural wonders. Despite the crowds pre-occupied with trying to eternalise themselves in the City of Bridges with their selfie-sticks, it was fortunately still possible to enjoy the amazing art during last year’s 57th Biennale di Venezia. The international art exhibition included 86 national participations in the historic Pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the city centre and 23 Collateral Events promoted by national and international non-profit institutions presenting their exhibitions and initiatives. Another event not to be missed was the 74th Venice International Film Festival, also organised by the Biennale di Venezia, which took place from 30 August to 9 September 2017. You can discover my artistic impressions of my visit on the following pages.
